Malaysia Airport :: World's Best Airport 2005 2006 Two Consecutive Years

AIRPORT 2008
OVERVIEW

According to recent forecasts released by Airports Council International (ACI), over the next 15 years, global air passenger traffic will grow by over 4% per annum. This means that by 2020 something like 7 billion people will be using the world's airports, and, with freight traffic growing at an even greater rate of around 5.1% per annum, reaching some 170 million tons in 2020, it is clear that greater airport capacity is a precondition for achieving the forecast growth.

In 2004, airport operators spent more on new capacity than ever before and continued investment in infrastructure development at many congested hubs is set to continue. Spending on new airport technologies is also increasing, driven not only by the need to cater for growing consumer demand, but also by the need to reduce congestion and improve passenger throughput, safety and security.

AIRPORT 2008 is the ninth edition of the annual publication that has firmly established itself as the definitive work of reference for airport and airline industry professionals. The prime purpose of the publication is to advance the interests of airports and to promote professional excellence in airport and airline management and operations.

Drawing on the expertise of the world's leading authorities in the international air transportation industry, the publication reviews the latest developments affecting the industry as well as providing unbiased analysis of both current and emerging technologies that can be utilised by airports and airlines to improve all aspects of airport and airline management and operations.

Editorial includes technical papers and case studies, which have been written specifically for the project, by the world's leading airports and airlines, civil aviation authorities, air transportation organisations, and key airport and airline industry suppliers.
